Messy Lives

Sometimes life doesn’t go according to plan. Okay...it almost never does. The dream of a little girl living in Palestine in the first century was like that of every other young girl. You grow up, eye some strong, handsome, God-fearing young man, and have your parents arrange for a marriage. That’s the way it was supposed to be. That’s probably what Mary dreamed. But then life happened. Pregnant! Angels! Census! Barn! Baby! Shepherds! Could she see what God was up to in the mess? Just as Mary had to trust that the hand of God was at work in her messy life, we have to trust Him with ours, as well.
