Panama & Central America | David's Well

David's Well, led by Juan Rodriguez, helps in providing for the needs of those in Panama and Costa Rica.  Many churches are established in the mountains and led by national pastors.  Schools have been built and teachers, books, and supplies are provided.  The island villages have no churches yet; but schools, medical clinics, better housing, and clean water systems are making dramatic differences.  Since the water filtration was installed one year ago in Bahia Grande, no children have died.  An elementary education is all that is available within these villages.  Students must then move to larger villages on the mainland to attend high school or university.  Several years ago, Juan saw the need to build boarding houses where they could be card for by Christian house parents.  The students help grow their own food and care for the house in exchange for attending public school.  While on a trip in 2007 members of WCC were able to meet one of those students. Arsenio was teaching at the Christian school and gratefully received the recorders that WCC sent.  He has finished his university work and is now employed by the government to teach the adults in the mountain and island villages to read.  WCC's children are giving their offerings toward a marine global positioning system to be used in reaching more island villages.
